Colibri

This drink was inspired by “Luzia” by @cirquedusoleil which, in turn, was inspired by the richness in culture of Mexico. The vibrant colors, performers, and the music made it one of my wife’s and I favorite shows.
I wanted to make a layered drink that wasn’t going to be super sweet and syrupy, but balanced. I also wanted to mimic this awesome picture of a beautiful hummingbird. Enjoy!

Recipe

Layering Method

  • Pour in the cucumber & hibiscus syrup into your serving vessel first.
  • Put in some crushed ice, enough that it sticks out of the syrup. Repeat this step after every ingredient poured.
  • Combine the cara cara orange & lime juice. Layer it over the syrup with the back of a bar spoon.
  • Combine half of the blue curaçao with the pineapple juice. Layer it over the previous juices with the back of a bar spoon.
  • Combine the other half of the blue curaçao with the añejo tequila. Layer it over the previous liquids with the back of a bar spoon.
  • Lastly, float the butterfly pea infused gin.
  • Take an awesome picture and make sure to stir the drink to combine the ingredients before drinking.
